Author's Note - This is a continuation of my other two stories - you probably should read them to understand but basically Monica and Chandler were confused about having slept together in London - Chandler wanted to see where things went while Monica didn't want to cross the 'friendship' boundary again but by the end she had changed her mind!  Awww!  And Rachel has come to tell Ross she still loves him but Monica tried to persuade her not to.   As always, feedback is welcomed - alexkdg@aol.com

Outside the church (cont.)

[Chandler and Monica are looking at each other after having kissed.  He moves in to kiss her again but she pulls back]

MNCA:  You know, much as I want to stay here and do this, we have a wedding to rescue!

CHAN:  Can't we rescue it later?  [Monica just gives him a look]  Oh alright, but you're gonna owe me one!

MNCA [in a suggestive tone]:  You betcha, and I'll make it up to you later!

CHAN:  I like the sound of that!

MNCA:  You should do!

[They kiss again, but it's a sweet kiss, not as passionate as before]

MNCA:  OK, now we have to find Rachel and persuade her not to ruin Ross' wedding.  Or else we have to guard him from her.  I wanted them to be together as much as she did...... but he's my brother and I want to see him happy too.

CHAN:  But don't you think Rachel would make him happier than Emily would?  I mean it's Ross and Rachel, you know?  They've been off and on since we all became friends and it's just weird that they aren't getting married.

MNCA:  You know, if this wedding passes off smoothly, we can get away from it much faster!

CHAN:  Kay!!  I am so on board!  Let's go save a wedding, although personally I think I sabotaged it already with my toast last night!

[She laughs and scene shifts to......]

Monica's hotel room

[Rachel is pacing back and forth.  She finally appears to come to a decision and walks towards the door when Monica walks in]

RACH:  WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?  I have no idea what to do and you just ran out on me!  Look, I've been thinking a lot, and I've decided that I'm just going to tell Ross how I feel.  I can't let him marry her and wonder "What if?" for the rest of my life.  You know, this is Ross.  And I can't let him go a third time [she is starting to cry].

MNCA:  Oh sweetie, I am so sorry!  I'm so sorry I had to leave but I had to talk to.... someone.  But I'm here now and we're going to talk about it.

RACH:  But I've decided....

MNCA:  Can I just tell you how I feel first?  [Rachel sits down on the bed and Monica goes to sit next to her]  Listen, you do not know how much I wanted you to be the one up there getting married to Ross.  We all did.  But as much as I wanted that, I'm his sister and I don't want to see him get hurt if he doesn't love you anymore.  You'll only ruin his wedding day.  And he seems to really love Emily.  I guess you could tell me it's none of my business but I don't want either of you hurt.  And you will be hurt if he doesn't say "Oh I love you too Rachel" and forgets about Emily.  I'm so sorry.

RACH:  Yeah I know you are.  And I know that you're right really....it just seems unfair that when I finally figured out what I want I can't have it.  But do you know how hard it will be to sit there and watch?  Because now I have to.  Oh God......

MNCA:  Yeah I know [she hugs her].  OK - let's go down and find the others.

Church - just before the wedding

[Monica and Rachel walk up to the rest of the gang - minus Phoebe of course :( ]

ROSS:  Wow Rachel, I can't believe you came.  Thank you so much!  Look, Chandler told me why you came.

RACH:  He did?

MNCA:  HE DID?  [She glares at Chandler]

CHAN:  Yes, I told Ross how terrible you felt about missing his big day, and how you had to be there for your friends wedding!!

RACH:  Of course!  That's why!

[Chandler smiles at Monica - one of those heart stopping smiles he has - if you're a huge Matty fan you'll know what I mean of course!  And she smiles back in relief.]

ROSS:  I'm so glad that you changed your mind [he hugs her].

RACH:  Oh no problem.  [She steps away and looks sad]

ROSS:  OK well I have to go and find Emily.  I'll see you all in a few minutes!  [He leaves]

RACH:  Oh my god.  I can't believe I just did that.

JOEY:  Yeah I'm sorry Rach.  Chandler told me what happened.

RACH:  Wait a minute.  Chandler, how did you know what to tell Ross?  Monica was the only one that knew what I was going to say!

CHAN [looks panicked, as does Monica]:  Uhhhhhhhh.........

MNCA:  OH!  I had to see the caterer and I met Chandler on the way so I told him then!

CHAN:  That's EXACTLY what I was going to say!

RACH:  You ran out on me to see the CATERER?

[Monica looks apologetic and shrugs]

RACH:  Oh never mind.  Let's just get this over with.

[She walks towards the seats and Joey follows to talk to her]

CHAN:  Close call!

MNCA:  I know, but you don't want to tell the others......yet........do you?

CHAN:  God no!  Not if I value my life!  Ross would kill me if he knew what I was doing to his sister!

MNCA [smiling]: Yeah, I'd prefer you intact for what I have in mind tonight!!

CHAN:  Oh yeah?!

MNCA:  Plus, the secrecy is kind of exciting isn't it?

[He doesn't answer but walks towards her and backs her up against the wall, putting his hands on either side of her to trap her and she slides her arms around his neck.  They are just about to kiss when Ross walks in.  He doesn't see them but Monica ducks out and jumps away from Chandler.]

ROSS [noticing them finally]: Oh hey you guys.  Have you seen Emily?  No one can find her and the minister is ready to start.

CHAN [looking guilty]:  No man, I haven't seen her today.

ROSS:  Mon what about you?

MNCA [looking flustered]:  Nope me neither!

[Joey walks up to them]

JOEY:  Hey, what's going on?

ROSS:  You haven't seen Emily have you?  I can't find her anywhere.

JOEY:  Oh, yeah - I saw her about half an hour ago talking to some guy outside, but I haven't seen her since.

ROSS:  Some guy?  Who was it?

JOEY:  I don't know!  She has a lot of British friends here and the only one I know is Felicity!  Man she is....

ROSS:  Yeah whatever - what did he look like.

JOEY:  I can't remember.  He was good looking though.  Tall!

ROSS [sarcastically]:  Thanks man!

JOEY [doesn't get the sarcasm]:  Not a problem.

[Just then Emily walks in (EMLY).  She doesn't look happy.]

ROSS:  Emily, where have you been?  I've been looking everywhere!  The minister is about to start!

EMLY:  Ross, I need to talk to you........ [everyone is looking at her expectantly]... um outside preferably.

ROSS:  OK.

[They walk outside the church.]

ROSS:  What's going on?

EMLY:  Look Ross, there is no easy way to say this......... but I've been thinking, a lot.  And I just think that we're moving too fast here.  I don't think we should get married.

ROSS:  Oh is this because of all the disasters?  Don't worry sweetie, our parents can work it out themselves!  But if you want to get married at another time, that is totally fine.  I just want you.

EMLY:  No Ross, I don't want to postpone it, and this isn't because of everything that has happened in the past few days.  I........remember the man that I left for you?  Well he kind of came back today, and made me realise that I still had feelings for him.  Ross I couldn't marry you and wonder "What if?".  I have to give it another chance with him.

ROSS [is looking stunned and hurt]:  Now see I think you're wrong about that.  I think you should give us another chance.  Emily, I don't want to lose you!

EMLY:  I'm so sorry to do this to you now but I can't marry you, I just can't.  We moved way too fast and I'm just not ready to marry anyone.  But when I do marry someone......well it can't be you.  I think you're so great, and one day you are going to find someone who will make you so much happier than I ever could.  Look, I have to go now but Ross, I'm sorry.  I won't blame you if you hate me, but believe that I didn't want to hurt you.

ROSS [bitter]: Yeah well that one sure backfired didn't it!

EMLY [quietly]:  Yeah I guess.  I'm sorry.  I'll go now.

ROSS:  You should do that.  But would you like to stamp on my heart one last time before you go?  [her head drops]  OK, I'm sorry, that was out of line.  I just thought we were on the same page here.  I wanted to marry you so much.... I loved you Emily.  But I won't hold you here if you don't love me back.

EMLY:  I'm sorry but I don't.

[The man she's leaving Ross for walks up.  He is huge - one of the types we saw in TOW The Rugby!  Ross looks like he wants to kill him but is obviously intimidated by his size.  He and Emily walk away and Ross looks extremely depressed.]

ROSS [after them, but not loudly enough to be heard]:  Yeah, hope she ditches you too!!

[Rachel comes out to find him and sees him standing there looking miserable.]

RACH:  Ross, the minister is getting pretty impatient, he wants to start, you know, before tomorrow preferably!

ROSS:  Well tell him that he can just go home and forget about the stupid wedding.

RACH [looks confused]:  What are you talking about?

ROSS:  Emily decided to go back to her old boyfriend and there's pretty much nothing I can do about it.  So the wedding is off.

RACH:  Oh my God Ross, I am so sorry!  Oh come here!  (She hugs him - he looks miserable - the camera turns around and we see that she is sad for Ross but happy that he isn't marrying Emily!!)

Time lapse - Monica's hotel room

[Monica is packing her suitcase when there is a knock on the door.  She walks over and opens it.  Chandler is standing there looking anxious]

CHAN:  Hey!  [Quietly]  Is Rachel in there?

MNCA:  No, she's calling Phoebe downstairs.  Then she has to try and book a flight back to New York.

CHAN [looks relieved]:  Oh OK then, can I come in?

MNCA [smiling]:  Of course you can.  [He walks in but leaves the door open]

CHAN:  So, wow, I can't believe what Emily did.  Poor Ross.....

MNCA:  Yeah, he's really depressed.  I said I'd go and stay with him after I'd packed.  I think he needs his friends right now.

CHAN [his face falling]:  Oh, so you're leaving?

MNCA:  Well.......... it does take me an awfully long time to pack!  [She smiles at him]

CHAN [getting it]:  Yeah, and he probably wants to be alone right now!

[Chandler kicks the door shut with his foot and walks closer to Monica, taking her in his arms.]

CHAN:  I have been waiting to do this all day!  [He kisses her deeply.  She winds her arms around his neck.]

MNCA:  Oh me too!

[Short time later - we see Chandler's jacket on the floor.  There is a knock on the door and the shot shifts to the bed.  We see Monica's head shoot up - her hair is all messy.  She and Chandler look at each other freaked.]

RACH [from outside]:  Monica?  Mon, are you in there?  [She rattles the door handle]

[Monica puts a finger to Chandler's lips to shush him and he promptly pulls her down and kisses her.  She laughs and then claps her hand over her mouth.]

RACH:  Monica, I can hear you.  What are you doing in there?

MNCA:  Uhhhh.......... I'm taking a bath!  Yeah - I can't come to the door!

RACH:  You're taking a bath?  Then why were you laughing?

MNCA:  Because um…well…I dropped the soap! [Chandler gives her a "What kind of excuse is that?" look and Monica rolls her eyes.  We get a shot of Rachel outside the door looking puzzled.]

RACH:  What?  Actually you know what?  Never mind.  I'm going to go and see if Ross needs anything before we have to leave.

MNCA:  OK, great idea! [We see Rachel walk down the hall and then the shot shifts back to Monica and Chandler still in the same position]

CHAN:  What the hell was that?  That was the lamest excuse!

MNCA:  You want to make fun of me or do you want to kiss me?!
[He suddenly looks all serious and kinda shy.]

CHAN:  You know, you are just so beautiful…… I can't believe that I never realised how stunning you are.

MNCA [looks touched]:  Chandler that is so sweet……

[She leans down and kisses him and the scene fades out on the two of them.]
