LEAVING HOME

BY CREASSYA

This takes place after Moving Along. Chandler is being transferred again, but this time he's being transferred to Florida. He and Monica are preparing for the move and also the
baby's arrival. Monica's a little nervous about the move, but she couldn't see herself being away from Chandler, especially now that they're about to become parents.

Chandler walked into Monica's room and stood in the doorway watching Monica neatly packing up her things. Being pregnant didn't seem to slow her down. She still
cleaned and cooked the way she always did. Chandler was amazed at how much energy she had. He could be sitting at his desk all day and by the time it was time to go
home, he was exhausted. Monica would get up early, go to work, come home and cook and clean, and still not be tired. He went over to Monica, who was now in her
closet, and stood behind her. She turned around and smiled at him.

"Do you ever be still?" Chandler asked putting his arms around her waist.

"Hi sweetie." She said touching his face.

He leaned in and gave her a kiss. A few seconds later, they broke the kiss and Chandler went over and sat on Monica's bed.

"You still nervous?"

"Yeah, a little."

"Me too." Chandler said.

"I think we'll be all right though."

Monica went over to him and sat on his lap.

"I love you." He said gazing at her and touching her stomach.

"I love you too Mr. Bing." She said running her fingers through his hair.

"I love when you do that." He said closing his eyes.

"You do?"

"Yeah, it's really relaxing."

"Good."

Later that night, Monica sat at the window in the dark, with her hand on her stomach. Rachel came out of her room with one eye open and one eye closed. She didn't
notice Monica until she was near the bathroom.

"Mon, what's wrong?" She asked.

"I couldn't sleep."

"Why not?" Rachel asked, walking over to her.

"I was just doing some thinking."

"You're not having second thoughts about moving are you?"

"No. I just, y'know, my whole life is changing. I'm in love with Chandler, we're about to have a baby, and now we're moving."

"Are you scared?"

"I'm terrified. What scares me the most, is becoming a mother."

"Really? I thought moving scared you the most."

"No. I'm just so afraid I'll turn out to be like my mother. I don't wanna criticize Jasmine the way I was criticized. It's something that sticks with you your whole life. I've never
really gotten over it."

"Mon, I think you're gonna be a great mother."

"I hope so."

"You will."

"So, have you found an apartment yet?"

"No."

"I was thinking...you and Phoebe can stay here."

"Really?"

"Yeah, why not?"

"Oh, thank you Monica." Rachel said hugging her.

"It's no problem."

"I still can't believe you're moving."

"Me either. I'm gonna miss this place."

"Where is Chandler?"

"He's in my room."

"I'm really happy for you two."

"Thanks. I look at him sometimes, and I can't believe how lucky I am. He really held me together when I was with Keith. I felt like I was drowning, and out of nowhere,
Chandler came in my life, and saved me."

"I was so happy that you got Keith out of your life. I mean, it wasn't easy, but you did it."

"I'm just glad to have that part of my life over with."

"You and me both." Rachel said.

An hour later, Monica walked back into her room and closed the door quietly. She walked over to her bed and climbed under the covers. Chandler was lying on his back.
She smiled and softly kissed him on the mouth. He stirred, but didn't wake up.

"I love you Chandler." She whispered.

The next morning when she opened her eyes, she noticed that Chandler was sleeping close to her with his hand on her stomach. She smiled and put her hand on the back
of his. When she rubbed his hand, he slowly opened his eyes and looked at her.

"Good morning." Chandler said.

"Good morning."

"Did you sleep okay?"

"I slept pretty good."

"Just pretty good?"

"Well, I had a little trouble sleeping."

"What's wrong?" He asked sitting up.

"I don't know, I guess everything is finally starting to sink in. Our whole lives are changing."

"You scared?"

"I'm terrified."

"Me too."

"But we'll get through it right?"

"Of course we will." He said holding her hand in his.

A week later, Chandler was in Florida checking out their apartments. He picked out the biggest one for Monica, and took a smaller one for himself. He wanted to have
everything furnished before they moved so that Monica wouldn't have to lift a finger to do anything. Monica picked out new furniture that she wanted for the apartment, and
told Phoebe and Rachel that they could keep whatever they wanted. Everything was just about taken care of for Chandler and Monica and moving day was getting closer.
She sat on the couch watching TV when the phone rang.

"Hello."

"Miss me yet?" Chandler asked.

"Of course we miss you." Monica said grinning.

"Good."

"Is everything okay?"

"Yeah, everything's fine. I'm making sure that you don't have to do anything, well, except maybe hang some pictures or, whatever."

"I love you Chandler." She said with her hand to her heart.

"Yeah I know." He said jokingly.

"You're coming home tomorrow right?"

"Yeah, so try not to miss me too much."

"Too late."

"Well, I'll talk to you later. I love you."

"I love you too." Monica said, rubbing her stomach.

Chandler walked around Monica's new apartment. He then walked out on to the patio. So far, he liked Florida, and was feeling right at home in Monica's apartment. He had
come from his new apartment hours ago. He rented a car, and drove around so that things wouldn't feel so unfamiliar to him when they would move next month. He liked
the warm weather and palm trees, and knew that Monica would too. While he was driving, and enjoying the scenery, he smiled. Life was good, and about to get better.
Moving Monica and the baby to Florida, and taking care of things before the move, made him feel like a husband. It felt good. The baby would arrive in three months and he
couldn't wait to see Jasmine. It took Monica a few months to grow into the idea of having a baby, but he was excited from the beginning.

Two weeks later, Chandler was in his office, when Monica walked in.

"Hey sweetie." She said.

"Hey, what brings you here?" Chandler said.

"I just figured I'd spend my lunch break with you."

Chandler went over to her and gave her a peck on the mouth.

"Where do you wanna go?"

"I have a craving for pizza."

"Pizza it is."

"I see it's kinda hectic here."

"Yeah. I'll probably be working late tonight."

"Thanks Chandler." Monica said touching his face.

"Thanks for what?"

"Just for being you."

"Huh?"

"You could have easily moved and just came to see us on weekends or whatever."

"Why would I do that?"

"That's why I'm thanking you." She said gazing at him.

"You know I still would have asked you to move even if you weren't pregnant right?"

"Yeah. And I still would be moving."

Chandler looked at her with a smile on his face. He didn't think that it was possible to love Monica more, but each day he found himself loving her and Jasmine even more
than he did the day before.

"I love you." Chandler said softly.

Monica kissed him lovingly and placed her hands on his face. Seconds later, Joey entered with a small bag in his hand.

"I brought sandwiches. Want one?" Joey asked sitting at the kitchen table.

"Of course." Monica said.

Chandler smiled as Monica practically ran over the kitchen table to eat. Chandler expected Monica to be pretty big by now with only three months left in her pregnancy, but
she wasn't. She was small. When she wore big shirts, you couldn't tell that she was pregnant. When they went to the doctor, he asked if everything was okay. The doctor
told them that she was fine and that a lot of women don't get that big throughout their pregnancy, and that there was nothing to worry about.

Two weeks later, the day before the move, Monica stood in the kitchen looking at her apartment. The gang was at the coffeehouse waiting for her and Chandler. It was
closed to the public because it was a private going away party for them. He was still in her room getting dressed. She walked into the living room and sat down on the
couch. She missed her apartment, and she hadn't even moved yet. She put her hand to her stomach, and thought about the night Jasmine was conceived. The whole
weekend she spent with him, they couldn't keep their hands off each other. It was also the first time that he said the words, I love you. She smiled, thinking of how sweet
he sounded when he uttered those words to her. He came out of her room looking at her with a slight frown on his face.

"What are you smiling at?" He asked sitting down beside her.

"I was just thinking about the night Jasmine was conceived."

Chandler smiled and put his hand on her stomach. He often thought about that night too. He hadn't planned on having sex with Monica that night, but once she came into
his room to kiss him goodnight, he knew that he wouldn't be able to let her leave the room without making love to her. He couldn't help himself. He wanted her so bad that
night. It wasn't just sex. There was love there, for the first time between them. They couldn't get enough of each other. They made love over and over again, until the next
day. They managed to use protection each time they had sex that night, with the exception of the second time they had sex. He and Monica knew that that was when
they had created Jasmine, their first child. Monica looked at Chandler as he was smiling.

"I'll never forget that night." Chandler said, rubbing her stomach.

"Me either."

"So, are you ready?"

"Ready as I'll ever be."

Chandler and Monica walked into the coffeehouse filled with their family and friends. They knew that this would probably be the last time they would see all the people that
were gathered together in the coffeehouse at one time. Monica's parents arrived shortly after they did, and Nora arrived hours later. Everyone made a fuss over Monica, the
expectant mother, especially Nora. She hadn't seen her since Chandler was in the hospital.

"Are you nervous?" Nora asked.

"You mean about the move?"

"About everything."

"Really nervous."

"You'll be fine." Nora said.

"I know." Monica said looking over at Chandler, who was talking to her parents.

Chandler had been talking to Monica's parents for a half hour. He looked over and watched how everyone made a fuss over her. She turned her head and they made eye
contact. They smiled at each other, and Chandler turned his attention back to her parents. Judy wanted to make sure that Monica and her grandchild would be well taken
care of.

Phoebe and Rachel were sitting on the couch when Monica came over to them and sat down.

"I didn't expect to see so many people here." Monica said.

"Us either." Phoebe said.

"This baby has been kicking all day." Monica said rubbing her stomach.

"It's probably because you've been eating all day." Rachel said smiling.

"Yeah right."

Hours later, Rachel got everyone's attention. She had some things to say.

"Monica and Chandler, this is the last day that we'll all be hanging out together like this, so I wanted to take the time so say a few things. I can't tell you how weird it's
gonna be here without you two. I'm used to getting up in the morning with Monica cleaning the apartment from top to bottom, or her cooking breakfast for all us, especially
now that's she's pregnant. She's always been there for me no matter what. She's one of the sweetest people that I know. You're like a sister to me Mon, and I'm really
gonna miss you. Chandler, I haven't known you for that long a time, but I liked you from the start. You came into Monica's life at a time when she was going through some
difficult times. You stood by her as a friend. When you realized that you had feelings for her, you didn't act on them right away because you felt that she needed to sort out
some things in her life. You gave her the friendship and respect that she really needed during that time. Since the two you have been together, I see how much happier you
are, and I'm glad that you took your time with Monica and showed her how a real man is supposed to treat a woman. She couldn't have picked a better boyfriend or father
of her child than you. I love you guys."

Rachel went over to them and hugged them both with tears in her eyes. Joey laced his fingers through Phoebe's while they watched the tender embrace. Joey missed
Chandler already. He was a good friend and they were becoming close. Joey hoped that the two of them would continue to be close even though they would be far away
from each other.

Minutes late, Nora stood in front of everyone.

"Chandler, I just want to let you know how proud I am of you. Not just because you're making money and being promoted, but because your personal life has greatly
improved. You finally have a girlfriend that I love, and now you're about to make me a grandmother. Of course I'm a little too young to be a grandmother, but that's okay."
She said smiling. You've done really well for yourself and I love you. Monica, I love the person that you are, and I know that Chandler does too. I've never seen him this
happy before and it's all because of you. It's obvious that you give him the love that he's never had before, and the kind of love he deserves. Not only are you a good
girlfriend to him, but you're also his bestfriend. I just wanna thank you for being so good to my son. You're a wonderful person, and I love you."

Monica got up to hug Nora. They embraced for a few seconds, then Chandler got up to hug her. Monica had tears in her eyes. When Nora sat down, Monica's parents
stood up to speak. When they were done, Ross, Phoebe, and Joey, each took they turn in front of everyone to say nice things about Chandler and Monica. After all the
speeches had been given, their family and friends hugged them good-bye, and began leaving. It was beginning to get late. When they place finally emptied out, Chandler
and Monica said on the couch hand in hand. They had all just finished cleaning up.

"I'm gonna miss this place." Monica said.

"I know." Chandler said kissing the back of her hand.

"Come on guys, let's go." Rachel said heading out the door with the rest of the gang.

When Rachel left, Chandler and Monica got up off the couch and walked to the door. Monica turned around and looked at the coffeehouse one last time, then Chandler
turned out the lights. She looked at him and they left.

The next morning, the gang was in Monica and Rachel's apartment helping Chandler and Monica with their bags. Ross and Joey were taking their bags down to the taxis
they had waiting outside. Once all the bags were out of the apartment, they were ready to leave. The rest of the gang was waiting downstairs. Chandler was at the door
waiting for Monica. She was taking her last look around her room. When she came out, she had tears in her eyes. She walked over to Chandler and he held her tightly.
She broke the hug and took a good look at her soon to be old apartment.

"Are you okay Mon?"

"Yeah, let's go."

When they arrived at the gate, they saw their parents waiting. Jack and Judy had Ben with them, and he ran to Monica when he saw her. She picked him up and hugged
him tightly. He was in her lap when she sat down. Ever since she found out that she was pregnant, Ben started clinging to her more. He ignored everyone else when
Monica was around. She thought it was cute. They all sat and talked for a while until it was time for them to board the plane. Monica gave Ben to Ross and her and
Chandler hugged them all.

"We'll call you guys as soon as we get settled in." Chandler told them.

Joey had his arm around Phoebe as she stood there wiping tears from her eyes. They all watched as Chandler and Monica boarded the plane. They didn't leave until the
plane took off.

Chandler held Monica's hand in his and looked at her.

"You okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"Good, cause we're on our way." He said with a warm smile.

Monica leaned over and softly kissed him.
