THE DISAPPEARANCE
By Creassya

Chandler and Monica have been dating for a year. They've broken up and Monica has disappeared. No one knows where she is. Chandler is depressed and most
of all worried about Monica. Also this isn't related to any of my fics.

Chandler is in his room lying on his bed thinking about Monica. The person he loved more than
anything. He still couldn't believe that He and Monica broke up. He wiped the tears away that kept
sliding down his face and turned over on his side. He needed to get some sleep. Monica disappeared
after the argument they had. That was two weeks ago. No one has seen her since. He's been to the
restaurant where she works and they said that she's taking her vacation time a little early. He even
called her parents, but they haven't heard from her either. He wondered where she could be.

Monica comes out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her. For two weeks she's been
staying in Jersey with Sharon, one of her friends from work. Monica came to her and asked to stay
with her while they were on vacation from work. She saw how upset Monica was and found it hard to
say no. Her vacation time was almost up and she didn't want to go back home. No one knew where
she was. She didn't even call her parents. She just wanted to get as far away from everyone as
possible. She tried hard not to think about Chandler. She dreamed about him every night. The dreams
she had about him were really sweet. She even woke up with a smile on her face a couple times. She
woke up this morning smiling after dreaming that her and Chandler went out of town for a romantic
weekend. When she realized that it was only a dream, she began to cry.

Once Monica was dressed she went downstairs. She decided that she wouldn't stay in her room all day
like she's been doing for the past week. She was sitting on the couch when her friend Sharon came
downstairs.

"You look nice Sharon." Monica said.

"Thanks."

"Where are you going?" Monica asked.

"Well, I'm spending the day with Michael. I've been neglecting him, so I have to make it up to him.
Are you gonna be okay here by yourself all day?" She asked concerned.

"I'll be fine."

"I can call and tell him that I can't make it today." Sharon said.

"No. Why would you do that?" Monica asked.

"Well, I don't wanna leave you all day. You need me."

"So does Michael." Monica said.

"I know. I just feel bad about leaving." Sharon said feeling guilty.

"I'm not a baby. I'll be fine." Monica said trying to reassure her.

"Monica, you've been crying the whole time you've been here. You need someone here with you. I'll
be out with Michael thinking about you sitting here all by yourself crying."

"You haven't spent any time with him since I've been here. I've cried on your shoulder for two weeks.
I think Michael deserves your time now. Don't worry about me. I could use this time to myself."
Monica said.

"Are you sure?" She asked.

"Yes, I'm sure."

"Look...you already have tears in your eyes." Sharon said feeling bad.

"It's not because your leaving." Monica said wiping the tears that fell.

"I know. You miss Chandler. Monica, I wish you would call somebody and let them know that you're
alive. They must be worried sick about you."

"I told you that I don't want to talk to anybody."

"I know that. Monica, it's been two weeks. They probably think that something happened to you.
Everybody's at work right? Just leave a message on the machine at your place saying that your still
breathing. Okay?"

"I don't know." She said looking away from her.

Sharon looks out the door and sees Michael pulling up to the house. She really didn't want to leave
Monica by herself. Monica already felt alone with her and Chandler being broken up. She felt
incredibly guilty deserting her.

"Well, there's Michael. Are you sure your okay by yourself?" Sharon asked.

"For the last time Sharon, go out with your boyfriend. I'll be fine." She said with tears in her eyes.

"All right. Well, I probably won't be home until tomorrow. If you leave out, make sure that you turn
everything off and lock up." She said looking at Monica sadly.

"Okay."

Sharon reluctantly leaves. Monica didn't mind being in the house by herself. She needed time to think.
She had no desire to talk to anyone. She wondered what everyone was doing, especially Chandler. It
wasn't like her to just up and leave, but she had to get away. She couldn't stay there.

It's now nightfall and Chandler was still in his room. The only time he left his room was when he had
to use the bathroom. Everyone was worried about him. He wasn't eating or sleeping. They kept trying
to reassure him that Monica was okay and that she'll be back. He missed her so much. Tears fell freely
as he laid there looking up at the ceiling. While Chandler's thinking about Monica, we hear the song,
"Count" in the background by Sammie.

COUNT

Oh why why, you didn't have to
Leave me baby
I called you today
No one picked up the phone
As fast as I could
Girl I ran to your home
When I arrived, to my surprise
You were gone, away
Your neighbor informed me
That you moved away
How could you not tell me
And leave me this way
With no goodbyes, and crying eyes
I wish you would have stayed

Chorus:

So I count every second
I count every minute
That you are away from me
I just can't take it
Oh why, can't I get with you

Things won't be the same
There's no me without you
For the rest of my life
I'll be searching for you
Oh my first love
Don't know how much
I'll miss you
There are lesson in love
And I've learned my first one
My Mom says get ready
I've got more to come
But I can't take
No more heartache
I want you

Chorus:

So I count every second
I count every minute
That you are away from me
I just can't take it
Oh why, can't I get with you

You love me
And I love you baby
And you love me
But I can't take it
Oh why oh why

So we made a promise,
A promise (promise)
It was all right
Yes all right
It was so innocent
The first time
That we kissed
Like this

Chandler couldn't stop the tears from falling. He stayed in his room because he didn't want anyone to
see him falling apart. He hoped that Monica was all right. While he was wiping the tears away, Joey
came in.

"Chandler, I just ordered some pizza. You want any?" He asked

"No."

"Chandler, you have to eat something."

"No I don't."

"I'm sorry that you and Monica broke up. It's all my fault."

"Stop saying that. It's not your fault. Monica just didn't trust me enough to let me explain what
happened."

"I know, but I shouldn't have....

"Drop it Joey. It's not your fault."

Monica wakes up from her short nap. Before she even opened her eyes Chandler was on her mind.
She knew running from him wasn't going to solve anything, but she didn't know what else to do. She
kept thinking about the fight she and Chandler had two weeks ago. Now she realized that she should
have given Chandler a chance to explain everything.

Flashback to two weeks earlier.

Joey is heading upstairs to his and Chandler's apartment when he sees Kathy sitting in front of his
door, drunk. He asked her why she was there, but she didn't answer him. She was almost passed out.
She said something about Chandler, but he couldn't understand her because her words were slurred.
He didn't want to leave her out in the hall, so he helped her into the apartment. He called Chandler at
work and told him what was going on, and he told Joey to get rid of her some kind of way. He didn't
want Monica to come over there and freak out. Joey said that she was in no condition to leave at the
moment, but he would wait until she sobers up a little and he would send her home. Chandler thought
that was a good idea. He was gonna be working late anyway. He wouldn't have to see her.

A couple hours later Joey went into his room to change his clothes and to call some woman that he
met at the coffeehouse. As soon as he closed the door, she slowly got up and went into Chandler's
room and closed the door. She took off her closed and got in his bed. Chandler walks in and sits his
briefcase on the counter. He took off his jacket and tie and went into the bathroom. Monica comes in
seconds later and heads straight for Chandler's room. She couldn't wait to see him. When she opened
the door and saw Kathy in Chandler's bed half-naked, if felt like someone had knocked all the wind
out of her. She stands there in shock, then slowly comes out of the room. Then Chandler comes out of
the bathroom with his shirt hanging out of his pants.

"Hi honey...He said coming closer to her.

"Don't you hi honey me." She said with tears in her eyes.

"Mon, what's wrong?" He asked touching her shoulders.

"Don't touch me!" She said backing away from him.

"What did I do?" He asked clueless.

"I don't know. Why don't you take a look in your bedroom?"

Chandler walks over and opens the door. When he saw Kathy lying in his bed, his face instantly
turned red. He was pissed. How could Joey do this to him? Joey comes out of his room and his eyes go
wide when he sees Monica.

"Monica, let me explain this....

"What? That she's in your bed in her bra and panties waiting for you?" She yelled with tears streaming
down her face.

"I didn't even know she was in my room. I just got here."

"He's right Monica. I saw her outside. She was drunk and I didn't want to leave her like that, so I told
her to lay on the couch." Joey said

"So, how did she end up in your bed Chandler?"

"She must have just went in there without permission. I can believe you don't believe me, or trust me.
You really think that I would do something like this to you?"

Monica just looks at him and doesn't answer.

"Oh my God! You really believe that I would cheat on you." He said with tears in his eyes.

"Come on Chandler. Your home, but you didn't know she was in your bed?"

"Mon, I just got here. I didn't even go in my room yet. I came in, took off my jacket and tie, and went
in the bathroom. Why is that so hard to understand?" He asked losing his patience.

"I'm so..so disgusted with you. It's over...it's so over!" She said crying.

"Monica, please don't do this. Let me tell you everything..."

"I don't wanna hear anything else you have to say. I never ever ever...thought that you would do
something like this to me."

"And I can't believe that you would think that I'm that kinda person. I mean, how can I be with
someone who doesn't trust me?" He said raising his voice.

"You're right. I can't trust you....

"Monica, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have kept an eye on her." Joey said.

"Joey, you're only taking up for him, just stay out of this!" She said upset.

Joey put his head down while they continue to argue.

"He's not taking up for me." Chandler said angrily.

"You know what? I really don't care."

"This is really beginning to piss me off." Chandler said with tears streaming down his face.

"Good. Because I'm already there. Good-bye Chandler. She said as she walked out the apartment and
slammed the door.

Return to Monica sitting in the living room.

Thinking about that argument made her feel a little differently about things. She had never distrusted
Chandler before. She didn't understand what came over her that day. She never thought of him as the
cheating type before. She remembered how hurt he looked when she said that she didn't trust him. She
suddenly felt so guilty. Chandler was the love of her life. She couldn't believe that she behaved like
that. She lost it when she saw Kathy in his bed. At the time she felt like there was no reasonable
explanation for Kathy to be in Chandler's bed half-naked. Monica knew that no one could love him
the way that she could. She understood him. She loved his sense of humor, she loved his gorgeous
smile, his gently touch, the way he kissed her, the way he looked at her, when he whispered in her ear
softly while making love. Kathy couldn't appreciate those qualities in him. But she could. Monica sits
on up the couch. She wasn't about to let the love of her life slip away for her. She decided to fight for
him. She knew with all her heart, that no one was better for him than her.

Chandler found it impossible to go to sleep. He sat up in bed. He hadn't cried in hours. He didn't think
that he had any more tears left. Monica was everything to him. He knew that having her in his life was
too good to be true. He wished that he knew where she was so he could go find her. It really hurt his
feelings that Monica didn't trust him. He always felt that she did before the Kathy incident. When
Monica left he told Joey to go in his room and put Kathy's clothes back on get her out of there. He was
so mad at her. He felt it all could have been worked out if only Monica had decided to listen to the
whole story and decide to trust him. Then he thought about if the situation was reversed. If he had
seen a guy in Monica's bed he probably would have lost it too. Monica was his princess, his angel. He
wondered if he would ever see her again. The thought of her not being in his life brought tears to his
eyes.

The next day Monica was dressed and ready to leave to face Chandler. She wasn't sure what she
would say to him, but she knew that she had to talk to him. She was writing Sharon a note so that she
would know where she was. When she was finished writing the note, Sharon came in.

"Hey Monica. Where are you going?" Sharon asked.

"I'm going back home. I was leaving you a note, but I guess you don't need it now." Monica said sitting
down.

"So are you feeling better about things?"

"Yeah, a little. I just want to thank you again for putting up with me for the past couple of weeks. I
don't know what I would have done without you. You were really there for me and I'll always be
grateful." Monica said hugging Sharon.

"No problem. I didn't mind." She said smiling.

"Now I have to go and face what I was running from."

"Good for you. I guess the night alone did you some good huh?"

"Yeah, it did." Monica answered.

"Y'know um...don't hate me for saying this...but I really like Chandler. I've never seen you that happy
with anyone else. It seemed like he treated you really good."

"He did. I have to talk to him. It was really stupid of me to disappear without even letting him or
anyone else know that I was okay. I've been really selfish. Everyone is gonna hate me for doing this."

"Well, you never know." Sharon said.

Chandler was at work, but his mind was somewhere else. He didn't even feel like being there. He had
to make himself get out of bed. He was so depressed. With Monica gone, it felt like someone had cut
off his air supply. If that wasn't bad enough, he couldn't stop crying. He would be in a meeting or be on
the phone and he would have to excuse himself and go to the bathroom. He would get to the bathroom
and breakdown. He would have felt a little better if Monica had called just once to say that she was all
right.
When he put his head down on his desk, his secretary's voice broke through the intercom.

"Mr. Bing, there someone here to see you." She said.

"Who is it?" He asked.

"The person doesn't want to say. Should I send the person in?"

"Yeah, whatever." Chandler said.

Chandler tries to look busy, thinking that somebody from the mailroom, or somebody from another
department wanted to see him, but it wasn't. It was Monica. He stood up, but couldn't move to go over
and hug her. She was as gorgeous as ever. She came in and closed the door.

"Monica!"

"Hi Chandler. I couldn't wait until you got off work to talk to you. Well, actually I just had to see you.
I know that you're probably busy, but I just wanted to let you know that I'm back."

"Where have you been?"

"I've been staying in Jersey, with Sharon." She said.

"Monica, everyone was worried sick about you." He said getting a little angry.

"I know. I just had to get away for a little while. I needed time to think. I know I should have left a
note or called, but I wasn't thinking clearly."

Chandler didn't know whether to hug her or yell at her. He wanted to do both.

"Are you here to stay?" He asked.

"Yeah. I know you have work to do, so I'll go. I won't be home until later tonight. I'm going to my
parents for a few hours." She said opening the door and leaving.

Chandler was happy that she was back home, but furious with her at the same time. He had never
known Monica to be the inconsiderate type. He thought that she was the most thoughtful person he'd
ever known.

Chandler was sitting in his chair in the living room watching the door. He was expecting her to walk in
any minute. He loved Monica with all his heart, but he was so mad at her. It was bad enough that they
had broken up, but the way that she left wasn't right. He was so scared that something might have
happened to her. He put his hands to his face right before Monica opened the door slowly and walked
in. He got up out of the chair and went over to hug her. He wanted to hold onto her forever, but right
now, they needed to talk.

"I missed you so much." He said feeling the tears welling up in his eyes.

"I missed you too." She said reluctantly breaking the hug.

"Are you all right?" He asked.

"Yeah, I guess."

"Monica I thought something happened to you. We called the police." He said angrily.

"I know. My parents told me, and I saw everybody at the coffeehouse."

"Do you even love me?" He asked wiping his tears.

"Of course I love you. Why would you ask me that?"

"Because Monica, you don't do something like this to somebody you love."

"I know. I'm so sorry Chandler. I just lost it when I saw Kathy in your bed. The thought of losing you
scared me and I reacted. " She said with tears streaming down her face.

"Monica I love you. I wouldn't do that. I can't believe that you would think that I would cheat on you
right across the hall from you, or cheat on you period. That really hurt. I always thought that you
respected me. I mean...for you to think that about me, must mean that you think I'm a horrible person.
Do you?"

"No, I don't. I love you with everything that I am. There's no excuse for the way I behaved. I don't
blame you if you never want anything to do with me, but I came here to tell you how sorry I am. I
should have at least listened to you. I'm sorry."

"You know...if the situation was reversed, I probably would have lost it too."

"Chandler, even though I was selfish and inconsiderate, I know in my heart that there's nobody better
for you than me. And I know that there's nobody better for me than you." She said walking closer to
him.

"Is it me? Do I make you feel insecure?" He asked.

"No, it's not you. I have never been so scared to lose someone in my life. I didn't know how to handle
it. I'm not trying to make excuses, but that's how I was feeling. Chandler, I don't want anyone to take
you away from me." She said crying.

"Mon, look at me. I love you. Why would I let somebody come between us?"

"I don't know. I didn't realize just how insecure I was. And I do trust you." She said wiping her tears.

Chandler holds Monica's face in his hands. Neither of them made any attempt to wipe the tears that
fell from their eyes. He was no longer angry with her. He comes a little closer to her and they kiss and
hug. He was so happy to have his Monica back. He held her tightly, not wanting to let her go. The two
weeks he and Monica were apart felt like two years. When they break apart, Chandler takes Monica's
hand and leads her to the couch.

"So, are we okay?" He asked touching her face.

"Yeah, we're okay?" She said smiling.

"Don't ever do that to me again."

"I won't." She said.

Monica was so relieved that she and Chandler were back together. She couldn't imagine him not being
in her life. She cuddled up close to him and laid her head on his shoulders. She still felt really guilty for
the way she behaved that night. It was like she was a completely different person. She decided that
from this point on, she wouldn't jump to conclusion, no matter what, and when she gets angry with
Chandler, she would go somewhere to cool off, and then they would talk it out. She never wanted to
have another argument like that again.

"Can we, from now on, hear each other out?" He asked.

"Sound like a good idea."

"I love you Monica."

"I love you too."

Chandler and Monica sat on the couch for hours just talking and holding each other. They had a lot of
catching up to do. They both learned an important lesson that night. They learned to trust and respect
each other no matter how bad things seem.

THE END!
